Egyptians are amongst the largest book purchasers, per capita, in the world.Being at the Cairo Book Fair will enable you to meet your fellow publishers and other members of the industry from all over the world.
Many People always love and wait for the same time of the year. On January 23, President Mubarak opened the 40th Cairo International Book Fair, where other 28 countries participated with books from over 743 Arab and foreign press houses, in addition to other side cultural events. |
Egyptian Loggers surely didn’t forget to have their say on such event, as well as the books it brought and their visit to the fair.
The People used to regard the Book fair as my festival. I'd save the money and care to write down my wish list from year to year. As time went by and the prices increased, things changed a little. However, my passion for the fair stayed the same .

The Soor El-Azbackaya zone is a little known bookseller area in Attaba near downtown Cairo. Almost all subjects in all languages can be found within the hundreds of ceiling-high stacks of books inside the small metal shacks run by various used booksellers.
The site stretches over 200 meters of paved concrete right in the heart of the Attaba discount shopping area.

Upon this concrete plateau are perhaps 90 or so metal kiosks each containing a unique and specialized collection of books, newspapers and magazines.
The site is a little known area in Cairo where foreigners and Egyptians find used, rare, hard-to-get or specialized printed material. all at their usual below market discounted prices. As well, many of the shops feature top magazines (fashion, travel, music, business, etc) from all over the world
the Soor El-Azbackaya area will probably fill your needs. The site is also a gold mine for rare and hard-to-get books in many languages, including old Arabic newspapers covering prominent Egyptian events from decades past.
